DESCENDENCE AND MEANING OF YOUR NAME:

Noah comes from the offspring of Adam. There were 10 offspring between Adam and Noah. (Genesis 5: 1-32)

Instead of Abel, God gave Adam and Eve a son whom they called Set. (Genesis 5: 1-32)

Enoch, Noah's great grandfather, walked with God after he begat Methuselah. (Genesis 5:22)

Methuselah was the grandfather of Noah and Lamec his father. (Genesis 5: 21-29)

Noah's sons were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Genesis 5:32)

His father Lamec gave him the name Noah, which is associated with "Rest," with the Hope that one day he would bring relief to the land that was cursed by Adam's disobedience. (Genesis 5:29)

CHARACTERISTICS OF NOAH:

What did God see in Noah?

He was a righteous man (Genesis 6: 9) and with faith (Hebrews 11: 7), perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6: 9)

He was an obedient man: “And Noah did so; He did according to all that God commanded. ” (Genesis 6:22 / Genesis 7: 5)

WHY GOD MAKES THE DECISION TO CALL NOAH ?:

Noah was chosen among all mankind to build the Ark of salvation.

God saw that the evil of men was much on earth and that their thoughts and hearts persisted in doing evil (Genesis 6: 5), for this reason God regretted having created man and it hurt his heart (Genesis 6: 6), He made the decision to wipe off from the earth every man, beast, reptile and bird from heaven that He himself had created (Genesis 6: 7). But Noah found grace in the eyes of God and God chose to use him.(Genesis 6: 8).

THE CALL OF NOAH: begins when God manifests his decision to end every being, giving him instructions to make an ark (Genesis 6:13), because He would bring a flood of water on the earth (Genesis 6:17).

At this point we want to highlight the faith of Noah, because even God had not rained on the earth (Genesis 2: 5).

CONSTRUCTION OF THE ARK AND COVENANT OF GOD WITH NOAH:

The approximate construction time was 100 years.

The ark was the means that God used to bring salvation in the flood (Genesis 7: 1-10: 32).

Noah built the ark following God's instructions, because He had called him to save a remnant of mankind and animals from the coming flood (Genesis 6: 18-20).

It was the largest ark that had ever been built since then and until the 20th century. It was made of gopher wood and was covered inside and out with pitch. (Genesis 6: 14-16).

GOD'S COVENANT WITH NOAH: God promises Noah that he would enter the ark with his children, his women and the women of his children, as well as with all living beings according to the instructions He had given him (Genesis 6:18 -22).

WAS THERE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OTHERS ABOARD THE ARK ?:

Everyone could have climbed the Ark for seven days.

Yes, God told Noah: "After seven days (by which time the people who had knocked on the door of the ark could have entered), it would rain 40 days and 40 nights on the earth" (Genesis 7: 4) . "And it came to pass that on the seventh day, the flood waters came upon the earth" (Genesis 7:10).

Similarly, in 1 Peter 3:20 it says that in ancient times, in the days of Noah, they disobeyed, when God waited patiently while the ark was being built. In it only eight people in total were saved.

It is relevant to know that the one who closes the door of the ark is God, "And the Lord shut the door" (Genesis 7:16).

THE FLOOD:

It rained on earth for 40 days and 40 nights.

Noah was 600 years old when the flood began and entered the Ark with his children, his wife, the three women of his children and other living beings, giving God fulfillment of his covenant. "And there was rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights" (Genesis 7: 11-13).

The waters rose over the highest mountains, and all flesh that moves on the earth died ... Only Noah and those with him in the Ark remained. Then the waters prevailed for 150 days (Genesis 7: 21-23).

“And God remembered Noah and every living being that was with him in the Ark, and caused a strong wind to pass over the earth, the waters decreased, the abyss and the falls of the heavens closed, and the rain from the heavens stopped ”(Genesis 8: 1-2).

AFTER THE FLOOD: little by little the waters on the earth were decreasing, after 150 days, and the Ark rested on the mountains of Ararat, and the waters continued to decrease until the mountain tops could be seen (Genesis 8: 3-5).

After 40 days, Noah opened the window of the Ark he had made and sent a raven to see if the earth was already dry. Finding nothing but water, the bird continued to come and go, until the waters dried over the earth. He also sent a dove, which, not finding where to perch, returned to the Ark. Noah waited seven more days, and once again sent the dove, when it returned in the afternoon with an olive leaf in its beak, understanding Noah that the waters had withdrawn from above the earth (Genesis 8: 6-11).

Seeing that the waters had dried over the earth, Noah removed the cover of the Ark, verifying that the face of the earth was dry (Genesis 8:13).

GOD SPEAKS TO NOAH:

The instructions were specific.

“Get out of the Ark along with your children, your wife and the women of your children, as well as all living beings that are with you…. Fructify and multiply upon the earth ”(Genesis 8:16 - 17).

Noah's first act after leaving the Ark was to build an altar and offer a sacrifice of all kinds of clean animals and birds, thereby expressing his gratitude to God (Genesis 8:20).

This offering pleased the Lord and this resulted in a blessing, not only for Noah and his family, but also for all who would live on earth.

THE COVENANT OF THE RAINBOW

The true meaning of the rainbow.

On this occasion we can see that God makes a covenant with Noah, his children and with all the generations after them, as well as with every living being.

“I will establish my covenant with you, [...] and there will be no more flood to destroy the earth. [...] I have placed my bow in the clouds, which will be a sign of my covenant with the earth. and it will happen that when I bring clouds over the earth, my bow will be seen in the clouds. [...] I will see it and remember the perpetual covenant between God and every living being, with all that has life on earth. ”(Genesis 9: 11-17)

CONCLUSION

Storms do not matter so long as it is God who directs "our ark." There is no adverse circumstance when faith and hope are placed in Him. It is up to us to take the opportunity He gives us, to give Him control of our lives. God has a special purpose for every life, a plan based on his infinite love.
